New brush moves

Mark was watching Liesl brush her teeth. She turned the brush straight up and down and began to brush the front of her teeth, making a complete mess. Then she paused and said to Mark: "I have some new brush moves."

Goodbye balloon

Mark took Liesl to the grocery store and came home with a balloon. This incited a great deal of animosity and jealousy in Algy who, waking from his nap, found that his sister got both a trip out and a balloon. I took Liesl aside and asked her if she wanted to give her balloon to Algy (thinking I could somehow teach a 4 year old to be selfless). After a lot of convincing, she reluctantly handed over the balloon to her brother, tearfully proclaiming "I'm going to miss you balloon." Her generous moment quickly fled and they were back to fighting over the balloon. After about 30 min, my mom popped the balloon, sending everyone into hysterics.

We were in the Joann fabric store and were trying to pass through a very tight aisle. Some women had collected at the end of the aisle and we waited to pass through. Liesl yells ahead to the ladies "Hey! We're getting all bunched up over here." To which the women laughed and moved aside.

Algy likes to pretend he is a dump truck and is constantly scooping at my, and my mom's feet when we are sitting down. This results in him shouting at us "You're dirt!" It took me a while to figure that one out, and not take it as a personal attack.

Making friends

Liesl is very excited to start making some girl friends. We were at a play gym and she asked a girl if she could come over to her house and make chocolate chip cookies. I interrupted and said that I didn't know her mom, so we wouldn't be going to her house. Liesl just went over to the girl and asked her who her mom was.

At another play place I encouraged Liesl to introduce herself to the other child, so she could stop calling her "little girl." She asked her her name and then said "my name is Liesl, but you can call me princess."

You Suck!

My mom was helping Algy drink a shake and she was directing him by saying: "suck...suck." He yelled back at her "you suck!"

Liesl made her Christmas list and wants a diamond bracelet, chips and a chip clip, and a trampoline among other items. We went shopping afterwards and she had a complete breakdown when I wouldn't buy her a belt. She said "But, it's not on my list!" (sobbing) "How will Santa know to get it for me?" I told her I would call Santa. (I haven't done that yet).

Liesl is starting to remember all of my lies, and it is catching up with me. I told her we could go to the bathroom in Walmart, and she argued, because the last time we were there I told her Walmart had no bathroom.

When Liesl is older, she will be a ballerina and wear lipstick and earrings and chew gum.

Liesl sang to me "I am a Child of God," she sings: "Has given me a weirdo home, with parents kind and dear."

Cookies!

At the bathroom at FYE they have a vanilla air freshener, Liesl goes in and exclaims "Cookies! They have cookies in here!"

At bed time Mark tucks in the kids and Liesl says to him, "I love you Mark, you are a good man."

Algy is a movie critic and regularly says "show sucks"

Our family was shopping in Bed Bath and Beyond, in the Beyond section, and Liesl says: "I like sparkley man things!"

You know that one guy

So my daughter liesl was riding with me in the car and she says "I sure like that guy that lives at Grandma's house." I say "Grandpa?" and she says "yeah, he's a tickle monster."
